THE 13TH OF JULY REVOLT, ITS SOCIAL REFLEXES AND THE MULTIPLE LOOKS OF HISTORY
This article aims to discuss the distinct interpretations that explain the events related to the so-called “Revolta do Treze de Julho” in Sergipe History. Likewise, this work seeks to verify historiographical constructions that led the lieutenants who commanded the Revolt to the status of heroes. Mainly the Lieutenant Augusto Maynard Gomes who ruled Sergipe as intervenor, from 1930 and went to the reserve as General, being seen as a savior of public administration. This paper also discusses the possibility of the so-called “Revolta do Treze de Julho” being a coup d’état against a constitutionally elected government, military mutiny that failed to face the president of republic resistance, Epitácio Pessoa. The federal government sent Sergipe military troops who suffocated the coup and replaced Maurício Gracho Cardoso in power
