80 ANNIVERSARY OF EMBARKATION OF THE BRAZILIAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE AND SERGIPE’S PARTICIPATION IN THE SECOND WORLD WAR
This article aims to commemorate 80 years since the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (FEB) was sent to fight in the Second World War. The Brazilian State, in 1942, suffered a serious attack on its sovereignty, through torpedoed mer- chant ships, including in national territory, which motivated the President to declare war on the Axis. Following the declaration, the FEB was created, which was prepared and embarked for the European continent in 1944, buil- ding a journey of conquests and prominence in overseas territory. It is worth highlighting that the state of Sergipe has a relevant participation in this con- flict, whether in the defense of the coast, as well as sending personnel. To produce this information, a bibliographical research was carried out, through which the vast majority of the data presented were obtained.
